How To Add Fractions
A fraction consists of a nominator and a denominator. When you have a cake and you cut it into six pieces, you give one part to the birthday boy; you are left with five pieces i.e. 5/6. Here a thing is divided into parts and part/parts are taken to be fraction of all the parts. If we have 11 bottles of lemonade in a picnic hamper, and 9 of apple juice, then it means that we have 11/20 as lemonade fraction and fraction of apple juice in the basket is 9/20.
