Avian Welfare Resource Center from the Avian Welfare Coalition The Avian Welfare Coalition (AWC) is a diverse grassroots network of representatives from bird adoption, rescue, and sanctuary groups, humane societies, animal advocacy organizations, published research biologists, shelter and research veterinarians, and attorneys and other animal law specialists dedicated to the ethical treatment and protection of birds living in captivity and in their natural habitats. The AWC works to heighten awareness and to facilitate cooperation in addressing the concerns of captive bird welfare on all fronts. Through this cooperation, the AWC works to prevent the abuse, exploitation, and suffering of captive birds, address the crucial issues of rescue, placement, and sanctuary for displaced birds, and support efforts to insure the survival of wild birds and the conservation of their natural habitats. To improve performance of SITEINFO service and to prevent its excessive high-volume use by a single source, we implemented a randomly generated Access Code that must be entered before running a SITEINFO request.

The Access Code in the box is provided in graphics format. It has letters which are generated randomly and the symbol images are distorted. The distorted symbols cannot be read by computer programs which are used for mass-collect email addresses and any customer information. Only humans can read the distorted symbols and pass the access code. The Access Code improves performance of our services. It prevents excessive high-volume use by a single source.
