toriwinn.info   'self exposure' exemplifies 25 years of my work life
I grew up in Lausanne, Switzerland within a creative atmosphere that included entrepreneurial parents. During my childhood, I traveled extensively, gaining personal experiences in a mixture of the arts, theatre and film. After my study at Sarah Lawrence College, I moved to New York and worked for Richard Avedon, developing new interests in association with the many talents I met from around the world. At the Village Voice I worked on an avant-garde fashion insert we called VUE, creating a multi-dimensional approach toward fashion that combined art photographers, real people, great design and intelligent copy. That venue then led me to SELF magazine where I was Visual Features Editor, in a role that blended my creative direction, art direction and producer skills into a honed but versatile point of view. Through these portfolios, I was able to infuse the work with a lyricism and lightness that fashion and beauty can offer. At Sony Style, I created a visually lush, information rich magalogue that was a mixture of all that I had learned in my previous opportunities. This magazine blended lifestyle, product photography and information into a seamless brand communication. In the mid 90’s, I became seduced by the new media landscape because it was an opportunity for me to combine and use the range of my interests: still photography, fashion, film, animation, art, theater, writing, fashion and design. After diving in and getting the education needed under my belt, I began working for Agency.com. After years of working on a wide range of digitally-oriented projects for some of the world’s most recognized global brands, I look forward to continuing to experiment with this media and how it affects and shapes people’s lives.
